ASHTANGA YOGA AARAU (english/german)

Good evening everybody! Now back in December of 2017 I was ask by Melinda who's one of the owners of Ashtanga Yoga Aarau if I wanted to try out their yoga classes - and this is exactly what I did. Melinda has started practicing yoga about fourteen years ago - and that way she also met her now husband Patrick who's also teaching some of the available yoga classes. About nine years ago she saw that there was a Ashtanga Yoga workshop available in Aarau, hosted by two people from Vienna and from that moment on she was hooked on this style of yoga. But sadly at this time Ashtanga Yoga wasn't that widely spread throughout Switzerland and most of the time only available in bigger cities. As an English-Student she went for four months to Melbourne and was really excited about the fact that Ashtanga Yoga classes were constantly available - that's why she was practicing it overseas super frequently.
Back in November 2014 Melinda and Patrick opened up their first Ashtanga Yoga Studio here in Aarau - it's such a huge passion of them and with that opening a dream came true. It was really important to both of them that they didn't just want to establish a Ashtanga Yoga School but rather practice Ashtanga Yoga and passing their knowing onto their participants - so there's definitely not happening the typical teacher-student interaction.
But what exactly is Ashtanga Yoga?

Different Ashtanga Yoga classes they are offering atm*:
Monday 18.00 - 20.00 Mysore (Self-Practice)Tuesday 19.00 - 20.15 Intro (Starting out in Ashtanga Yoga)
Wednesday 18.00 - 20.00 Mysore (Self-Practice)
Saturday 10.00 - 11.30 Half Primary (Advanced Class)
*There are gonna be a lot more classes in the future plus they updated us during a yoga session that there are gonna be more classes besides Ashtanga Yoga available - like e.g. pilates - in the really near future.
Now in the last part of this blogpost I wanted to talk a little bit about my experience with Ashtanga Yoga. First I'd like to emphasize that I've never in my life practiced any type of yoga before - so this was all really new to me. I kinda saw it as a challenge and a great way to get an extra workout in during the week. I went on Saturdays - and on Saturdays they have a advanced class which is quite intense even if you've practiced yoga before I'd say. Besides the fact that I had to get up on a Saturday morning which I don't really liked too much, I actually really enjoyed the class and felt amazing after accomplishing these morning Ashtanga Yoga sessions. I also really enjoyed the fact that Patrick (he always taught the Saturday class) was really eager on posture which is great since that way you definitely won't injure yourself.
I'd recommend Ashtanga Yoga Aarau to everyone who likes to challenge themselves, likes to improve and also likes to train their whole body. Since the positions stay always the same you can really focus onto your posture and work on improving it. During the Standing and Seated Sequences they always give you different levels of difficulty - what I personally really like. I'm already excited to see what other classes they're gonna incorporate into their schedule and I'm definitely gonna keep you guys posted on that one!

Guten Abend zusammen!

Mittwoch 18.00 - 20.00 Mysore (Selbstpraxis)
Samstag 10.00 - 11.30 Half Primary (Fortgeschrittene)

Alles Liebe, Desi
